For the record, my grandpa wasn’t a “gangsta.” He owned a print shop in Detroit. However, I found these photos while I was supposed to be cleaning, and I couldn’t get this song out of my head.:
Geto Boyz-D*** It Feels Good to be aGangsta. (Warning! Explicit lyrics.)
I think I’ve watched the movie Office Space WAY too many times! 😉

This is my father’s dad, Earl P Brown, when he was only 23. They’re Photomatic pictures.

My dad jokes that his father was born old. If you saw some of his other pics, you’d see that he aged VERY quickly. Gramps passed away in 1984. Grandmanor passed away only a few months ago.
I love old family photos. I’m lucky to come from a long line of shutter-bugs! 🙂
Have a great day!
Juli
Loved these 😀
“… I’m pretty sure he’s doing what you think he’s doing…” – HAHAHA! I love how she’s looking down at his hand, too!
where did they go for their honeymoon?

They went to a state park, but I don’t remember which one. I think he was orginally from Oklahoma, or somewhere near there, but I’m not exactly sure about that either. My grandparents divorced when my dad was still a kid.
That fountain looks familiar to me. I keep thinking I’ve seen it somewhere. Maybe in a movie or on TV? Nothing was written on the back of it, which is a shame.
Gramps had an interesting life before he married my grandmother. I was told that he had traveled with a carnival for a while and he hopped a train to get to Michigan. I think he was kind of a “bad boy” back in the day.
I’d like to research his family, but it isn’t easy with a common last name like Brown. I’ve had a lot of luck researching other limbs of my family tree, but not as much with him.

Beautiful photos! I adore looking at photos of my grandparents when they were young. Envious of her lovely outfit in the last photo!

Thanks Laura! My grandmother, AKA my “Grandmanor,” was a classy person. She could “just throw something on,” and look like she’d spent hours picking out the right thing to wear. 🙂
